“…such a great addition to our outdoor space.” – Katja Rockstroh, Two Oceans Aquarium
The Two Oceans Aquarium at the V&A Waterfront is one of Cape Town’s leading tourist attractions. Located at the southern tip of the African continent and the meeting place of the Indian and Atlantic oceans, the Aquarium is ideally positioned to showcase the diversity of marine life found in these two seas.

In the summer of 2015, the Aquarium approached RHI to design and install a custom-manufactured stretch tent for an area that extends from its first-floor classroom facilities onto a balcony.
The requirements were simple: An unobtrusive structure that would allow enough light into the area without impacting severely on the building, where students could enjoy breaks regardless of the weather. Our design team welcomed the challenge and presented the Aquarium with a solution and visualisation.

Early in 2016 we were notified that we’d won the tender and the manufacturing process commenced. A few short weeks later the semi-permanent stretch tent was ready to be installed.

The client is very happy with the result, stating: “It has already been such a great addition to our outdoor space.”
It’s always exciting for our team to successfully complete a custom design project. Even more so when the location is at the heart of one of Africa’s leading tourist attractions, visited by an estimated 25 million people every year!
Congratulations to all involved. For more information about semi-permanent designs and installations, see our Custom Tents gallery.
