The first two posts focused on “megastructures”: stretch tent setups in excess of 1 000m², each with its own set of challenges, pulled off with dramatic results.
Here we take a slightly different route and look at rigs that stand out from both a conceptual and visual point of view, owed to their beautiful locations and fantastic execution.
Make-Believe: 15m x 10m
Established in London in the year 2000, Make-Believe is an independent production company that returned home to South Africa to spearhead the techno/electro and break-beat movement. Now focussing on house, techno and electronica, “MB has become synonymous with facilitating experiences for those with taste and integrity”.
As such, Make-Believe’s brief was to create something spectacular for the DJ stage, ensuring that it always be the focal point of its events. This was achieved by using poles of various lengths, anchored with strategic guide ropes. We’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.
Kalk Bay Harbour
This is a perfect example of the versatility of stretch tents, emphasising how they really can be set up anywhere. We love this rig for the pure simplicity of the setup, so much so that the complete series of photos adorn the walls at RHI’s headquarters! Not to mention that the outrageously beautiful location is the perfect set for a photoshoot.
