RHI Stretch Tents at Rocking the Daisies 2014

Rocking the Daisies (RTD) is one of South Africa’s most popular music festivals, selling out over 10 000 tickets in 2013. Held annually over the first weekend of October on Cloof Wine Estate in Darling, Western Cape, this year’s event promised to be bigger that ever.

RHI Tents is the proud manufacturer and supplier of Tentation’s fleet of stretch tents, who were again this year tasked to supply Rocking the Daisies 2014 with over 2 000m2 of stretch tents in numerous sizes and colours.

The stand-out structure at the 2014 event was the impressive food court tents, offering festival goers a comfortable space to retreat from the sun and recharge batteries at one of a dozen or so food stalls. 20m x 30m and 20m x 15m stretch tents were linked together and then joined to multiple 5×5 framed marquees to create a 900m² area that was constantly packed with hungry and sun-burnt revellers. This interaction of more traditional, old-school framed tent structures and new generation stretch tents is increasingly becoming the preference of festival organiser’s world wide.

Leading away from the food court you could see stretch tents being used in multiple ways: Ola ice-cream with a 12m x 7.5m red tent, the striking black Jägermeister tent built on a scaffold platform, and the 12m x 7.5m chino-coloured tent that was used to sell RTD merchandise, to name but a few.

As with years gone by, the festival traditionally ends off with a stomping party down on “the beach” next to the dam where, this year, 18m x 15m and 6m x 7m chino stretch tents were linked to create a massive dance floor on the sand.

Moving into the campsite, stretch tents could be seen being used for satellite bars and much needed coffee stations (for those morning hangovers). Not to mention the now famous “Daisy Den”, where tired bodies could go to be pampered. Certainly a feature that followed the growing local “glamping” trend.
