Custom Safari Tents at Babanango

On the banks of the White Umfolozi River in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, RHI helped bring the vision of an ultra-luxury tented camp to life. The river lodge sits within Babanango Game Reserve, where the surrounding hills and river form an important part of the guest experience. We were commissioned by a leading South African hospitality resort and development business to create the custom tent structures.

The project comprises 11 tents of approximately 220 m² each, incorporating an iconic central arch design. The fabric roofs sit above the luxurious accommodation structures and extend across their outdoor timber decks, with each unit positioned to suit its place in the landscape.

The generous tent footprints and distinctive arches give the camp a consistent identity. Neutral colours complement the timber and natural surroundings, while the layout preserves uninterrupted views across the river and surrounding wilderness.
